NEAT - How to be more active every day

It sounds simple but getting in as much daily movement as possible is one of the best ways to maintain a healthy weight.

We live in a world where it’s it’s too easy to be sedentary and take the escalator, drive everywhere, have thing delivered, turn your lights off from your phone on the sofa and over eat or grab convenience foods at our every turn.

If you always take these easy options you will struggle to maintain your weight - after all, there are only so many calories you can burn in a gym session!

NEAT (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) is the energy we expend doing non exercise activity and just during our daily activities. It can be a huge factor in succesful weight loss and maintaining weight.

When you go about your daily activities, think about how you could be more active. Try to get in plenty of steps, use the stairs, park a little further from the shops, walk on the phone, do some gardening, walk the dog, hoover the house, get off the tube or bus a stop early, take a walk in your lunch break.
